WINEMAKING NOTES:
Our Old Soul Old Vine Zinfandel is harvested from our estate owned vineyards, old vines that naturally lend themselves to producing dense raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas and flavors that are accented by lush chocolate and vanilla notes. The palate is luscious and round with a silky mouth-feel and a long,enticing finish.
FERMENTATION/AGING:
The grapes from our Old Sould Old Vine Zinfandel are predominantly sourced from vines aged between 50 and 75 years with some of the vines approaching 100 years old. These vines produce the complex, concentrated grapes that Lodi has become renowned for. Once harvested, the grapes are transferred to tanks where they are warmly fermented to extract as much color and varietal character as possible. Once the fermentation approaches dryness, the grapes are pressed and put through a second fermentation, "malo-lactic fermentation", to soften the wine and give it the plush mouth-feel characteristic of Old Soul wines. Finally, the wine is matched with an aggressive oak program to compliment its volumptious fruit with rich chocolate and vanilla notes.
