Product Overview

Kentucky Owl Distillery was founded in 1879 by pharmacist Charles Mortimer Dedman in a scenic area on the banks of the Kentucky River. Charles received a large piece of land here as a wedding present from his stepfather's stepfather. For a long time, until the advent of Prohibition in the United States, the distillery produced whiskey "The Wiseman's Bourbon". But in 1919, Charles changed the recipe and registered his trademark as "Kentucky Owl." So begins the story of family affairs. The bourbon produced here has won a lot of lovers around the world, despite the short period of its existence.

In 1920, the Prohibition began in the United States and the distillery ceased operations. All whiskey is seized and sent supposedly for storage at state warehouses in Frankfurt. In just a few months, the room where only the "Kentucky Owl" was stored under mysterious circumstances completely burns down. Shocked by the incident, Charles Dedman decides never to take up whiskey again in the future.

Charles’s great-great-grandson, Dixon Dedman, who has heard the story of his great-great-grandfather many times, has been dreaming of a revival of his distillery all his life. In 2004, he carefully studied production processes. Having obtained the best barrels for aging the drink, he begins to experiment and mix different samples. Only 10 years later, in 2014, the first batch of "Kentucky Owl" in the amount of 1250 bottles appears. The annual output is only a few thousand bottles.
