At the turn of the millennium, the distillery was undergoing a period of transformation, drawing inspiration from its storied past. In tribute to W.L. Weller, a trailblazer in the industry, the distillation team set aside some of the first whiskeys distilled in the new millennium. These exceptional spirits were reserved for the sole purpose of creating the groundbreaking Weller Millennium.
A unique blend of vintage straight bourbon and wheat whiskeys distilled in 2000, 2003, 2005, and 2006, Weller Millennium highlights the influence of wheat on the whiskey’s flavor profile. The softness of the wheat imparts a smoother, sweeter, and more approachable expression. By harmonizing these distinctive whiskeys, the result is a beautifully balanced final product that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Tasting Notes
Weller Millennium opens with inviting aromas of rich caramel and toffee, a testament to its extended maturation in oak barrels. These initial sweet notes lead into a deep oak woodiness, revealing layers of complexity built over years of aging. Subtle hints of dried fruits, such as figs and raisins, along with a touch of stone fruit, provide additional depth. On the palate, the sweetness of caramel continues, culminating in a smooth, prominent oak influence that imparts a gentle dryness and a refined, lingering finish.
